Set in beautiful Babbacombe Bay the beach and cliffs are right on our doorstep and situated on the South West Coast Path.  Babbacombe boasts a number of great tourist attractions to visit including the Cliff Railway, Babbacombe Model Village and Bygones Museum all only a short walk away.  Babbacombe Theatre is just up the road, Babbacombe itself is full of lovely shops, restaurants and cafés and St. Marychurch pedestrianised shopping precinct is only a few hundred yards away, so there's plenty to do 


Just a 2 minute walk from the promenade and cliff railway, the family run Hotel de la Mer has a reputation for offering a warm welcome to all guests. All 27 bedrooms are bright and simple in design and are equipped with a TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There is no lift but there are ground floor rooms. The open plan restaurant has views to the front and the welcoming large bar/lounge area is very cosy with plenty of sofas and armchairs, giving it a homely feel.

Day One

We depart Cheadle at 0830 and travel to the English Riviera stopping for a lunch break en route.


Day Two

Day 2 Dartmouth Steam Train & River Cruise
This morning, we travel to the Dartmouth Steam Railway at Queens Park Station, Paignton, for a 30 minute steam train journey to Kingswear, which offers breathtaking views of the coastline and picturesque Devonshire countryside. Once in Kingswear, our foot passenger ferry transports us across the River Dart to Dartmouth from where we enjoy a 1 hour circular river cruise, passing fantastic scenery including Kingswear & Dartmouth Castles, Dittisham village, Britannia Royal Naval College and Greenway House - home to the late Dame Agatha Christie. Once back in Dartmouth, we have time at leisure before boarding our return ferry and steam train back to Paignton.

Day Three

Day 3 Torquay
We spend today in the stylish seaside resort of Torquay, where we can enjoy a wonderful waterfront stroll along the palm-lined promenade, the Princess Pier, the marina and Princess Gardens with their well-manicured flower beds and ornate water fountain. Situated in the heart of the English Riviera this elegant resort is the perfect place to relax with a Devon Cream tea while gazing out to sea. For a relaxing way to explore the resort there is a land train to all the major attractions. One of the English Riviera’s most famous figures is the novelist Agatha Christie and the Torquay museum features an Agatha Christie Gallery. There is also an ‘Agatha Christie Mile’ featuring landmarks from her books.

Day Four

Day 4 Powderham Castle & Exeter
After breakfast, we make our way to Powderham Castle where we enjoy a fascinating guided tour of this home located on the banks of the River Exe, just a stone’s throw from the historic cathedral city of Exeter. Our visit also includes an exciting 35 minute deer park tractor & trailer safari. We spend the afternoon at leisure in the Roman walled city of Exeter exploring its attractions, including the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery and Exeter Cathedral

Day Five

After breakfast and checking out we depart for home stopping en route for lunch and arriving back late afternoon
